Instead of quick and possibly superficial solutions, my work focuses on deepening the mutual understanding. My approach is carefully emotion-focused and can take the form of alternating individual therapy: One partner then observes the other’s process for a few minutes and then it alternates. This then goes back and forth. It can quickly lead to new and often surprising insights that enable a fresh start. With deepened trust, the bond can be strengthened.
Of course, this approach is not without risk; the opposite can also be the case and separation can prove to be the best solution for both partners.
